This might help: In my experience, version 37.7 has been having issues on VS Code for Windows. I'd recommend trying to Install a Specific Version of the extension. Or if you are in a GitHub Student plan (Copilot Pro) they announced the limits of the models available to students. See these links for reference: |

Since you already have Copilot Pro, this looks more like a plan/entitlement sync issue than an intentional upgrade requirement. Id suggest checking your Microsoft account subscription status, signing out and back into VS Code and refreshing Copilot settings to force a license recheck. If the models still dont appear, it would help to confirm whether the missing models are currently included in Copilot Pro or have been moved to a different tier, because the ‘upgrade’ prompt suggests the app may not be recognising the subscription correctly. If possible, Id also open a support ticket with a screenshot and account details, since this seems like either a UI bug or an account sync problem rather than a user error. |

Body
I’m currently subscribed to Copilot Pro, but I’ve recently noticed that several models I previously had access to — including Claude Opus and GPT-5.4 — have disappeared from my model selection in VS Code.
Instead, I’m now being prompted to “upgrade to Copilot Pro” to use these models, even though my subscription is already active.
This is confusing for a few reasons:
These models were available to me earlier, but are no longer visible
The UI suggests I don’t have the required plan, which is incorrect
There hasn’t been any clear communication about changes to model availability or tier restrictions
I’d like clarification on:
Whether access to models like Claude Opus and GPT-5.4 has been removed from Copilot Pro
If these models are now part of a higher tier (e.g., Enterprise or usage-based access)
Whether this is expected behavior or a potential bug/account sync issue
If this is an intentional change, it would be helpful to have transparent communication about which models are included in each plan.
Thanks.
